SOLID SILVER VASES

Description: A pair of Belgian silver large vases, raised on three foliate scroll and mask support legs, decorated with floral and foliate sprays and each with a vacant rococo style cartouche

Hallmarks:Belgian makers marks ed below a helmeted head within a lozenge (unidentified) plus import marks for London Assay Office, London1943. As these pieces were hallmarked by the assay office, not an importer,they were likely brought over with a family before or during WW2 rather than for sale in the UK. Belgian silver is not legally required to carry a standard or assay mark.

Condition: One has a small dink between the masks. The other has had a leg snapped off and then repaired (see pictures).Otherwise both have minor surface wear and no bad dents or scratches
